Kids Crafts: Plume Panache
Thanks to Fancy Nancy, we had an inspiration for a simple craft project. And, à la Fancy Nancy , we call it Le Crayon avec Plumage.
This is probably just a girlie project, but, who knows, maybe kids in general like the bright soft feathers enough to find fun uses for it...
Items used: a few colorful feathers, scotch tape, a favorite pencil
Method: Select as many colorful plumes as can be held together around the writing implement, place them so that at least 1/3rd length of each of the feathers overlaps the writing implement, apply scotch tape liberally and tightly around. Voilà!
After reading this page about half-a-dozen times, with Ana inspecting every detail under her microscopic vision, this project completely suggested itself to her. She declared, "Amma, I like plume too. Can we make a plume pencil like Fancy Nancy has?"
Sure enough, I seem to always restock when I am running low on craft supplies like feathers, stamping inks in various colors, interesting rubber stamps, stickers, glue, glitter, glitter glue, various kinds of papers (card stock, construction, vellum, tissue), googly eyes, pom-poms, popsicle sticks... most of these are available at the Dollar Store.
And, having studied French for two years in college (and promptly forgotten most of it), I must say I have been secretly encouraging Ana in her French Connection with Fancy Nancy. And, unlike me, it helps that D is fluent enough to speak French without a non-native accent :)
