Easter Egg Coloring
Spring is officially here, and so are the rain showers.
Lush is the grass and high are the spirits.
Fresh is the air and long are the days.
Let's sit outside and color some eggs!
We did try natural dyes on and off over the last few years - turmeric for yellow, dried hibiscus leaves for mauvish dusty pink, beets for wine-ish burgundy, spinach for green.
This year kids just drew on our usual brown eggs.
And used food colors for the white eggs using different techniques for masking and stenciling.
My favorite was the lace stenciling (above left) which leaves the lovely lace pattern on the eggs, and the rubber band masking (above right) which preserves the whites.
